Brian R. Damon
Hometown ~ Saratoga Springs, NY
Brian was born and bred on a golf course and took up the game at the age of 7 years. By 10 he was shagging balls at the Saratoga State Park Golf Course, and shortly thereafter, throughout high school and college at Schenectady Municipal Golf Course. Brian attended Augusta State University from 1989 – 1992; where he played on the golf team and caddied at Augusta National GC. He took his first professional job at McGregor Links CC in Saratoga and first Head Professional position 5 years later at The Country Club of Troy.

Although his career track was going along nicely at private clubs, Brian elected to leave Troy to work with his mentor and lifelong friend, Bob Haggerty back at Schenectady MGC and was Head Professional from 2004 – 2013. During his tenure Brian established the first national junior program in the area (Hook a Kid on Golf) and was awarded new site of the year in 2010. He was also the centerpiece for a Master Plan to bring the course to modern day golf standards. That work has come to fruition and continues today. Brian has also developed a great reputation as an instructor and won Northeastern New York Teacher of the Year in 2007 – 2008. “My sole mission as a teacher of the game is to create lifelong golfers”.

Brian moved to Plymouth in 2014 and has since been teaching and exploring opportunities in club management at The Country Club. Going forward, Brian will work seasonally at TCC, managing the curling program and facilities in the winter.

“I am honored and thrilled to be a member of the Waverly team, and looking forward to a great year and getting to know all of our patrons”
